It was on Saturday 29th November 1952 that a team of volunteers broadcast commentary on the football match Oldham Athletic vs Scunthorpe United to Patients in Oldham Hospitals. Fifty years on the current Radio Cavell team, along with representatives from the NHS Trust, Oldham Athletic Football Club and The Oldham Rugby League Team, meet for a celebration Dinner at the Sponsors Lounge at Boundary Park. As part of the evening we presented a number of our members with long service awards.
We also broadcast a series of extracts from the Radio Cavell archive throughout the day, along with a special programme reviewing 50 years of Hospital Radio in Oldham. We will be shortly adding a more in depth report of the anniversary celebration.
