UK Station Of The Year 2000

In the Year 2000 Radio Cavell won the title of 'Station of the Year' in a prestigious national competition. The voluntary service beat off competition from 250 other stations to win the Gold Award in the BT Hospital Radio Awards 2000

Award Presentation
Broadcast Manager Phil Edmonds is presented with The Station of the Year Trophy by Terry McCabe, Chairman of the West Pennine Health Authority.

The presentation, regarded as the hospital broadcasting equivalent of the Oscars, was made at Liverpool's Adelphi Hotel on Saturday 16th April, in front of a packed audience. In addition to the honour of winning the title Radio Cavell was also presented with a cheque for £1,000 by television and radio personality Lance Percival.

To win the award the judges listened to a specially prepared 15 minute documentary about the station to decide which of the 250 entries was worthy of the title. In making the final decision the panel commented on the unique and personal service Radio Cavell provides. "Cavell clearly demonstrates the importance and commitment the service offers to the hospital and the patients it serves. Enthusiasm shone through the entry and without doubt they provide a quality broadcasting service."
