The special broadcast which was transmitted from May 31st to June 4th featured hour long sequences of music and news stories from each of the last 50 years. The segments did not run chronologically, instead we jumped around ten years each time.
Hospital Radio began continious broadcasts of Football and Rugby commentaries in 1952, read more in our history page. Today we are recognised as one of the best hospital stations in the country.

Radio Cavell also helped to organise a Jubilee Beacon and Bonfire on Oldham Edge on the evening of Monday 3rd June. As part of the national chain of beacons around the country, Radio Cavell provided the public address system and a live link up with the Jubilee Beacon lighting in Shaw, taking place minutes before the lighting of the Oldham Beacon.
The event was organised by The Oldham Queen's Golden Jubilee Committee, with the support of Dew Construction, Groundwork Oldham and Rochdale, Oldham Metropolitan Brough Council, Radio Cavell 1350AM, Royton and Chadderton Round Table and Simon Tetlow Sculptor.
